For Cory Cole, illustrations were simply part of a lunchtime routine with her son. Cartoon drawings and puns were entertainment more than anything. If others enjoyed them too, that was a bonus. Illustrating a children’s book was a far-off dream at best. Little did she know that a perfect stranger was writing a story and a golden opportunity was taking shape.

Instead of making me feel like a mutant though, it makes me feel like a superhero. Because I am doing it. It may not be pretty, but I’m doing it. Here’s how—no judgement please.

So here is my confession. I thought I knew what we were getting into, as much as one can, and I welcomed it even. I knew twins would be hard but also saw many benefits, if not right away then down the road. I knew that parenthood was a full-time, long-term, give-it-your-all kind of role and that it’s all part of the same wonderful package.
